East Coast Visitor Centre

This was a three-staged project: selecting a suitable site for the Visitor Centre; developing a Master Plan for the Visitor Centre within Freycinet National Park; and then designing and documenting its hard and soft landscaping.

Inspiring Place led a multi-disciplinary team that selected the site for the centre, examining visitor markets, business imperatives, existing land uses, available infrastructure and the potential environmental or social impacts at a range of locations. The resulting design and landscape has integrated site rehabilitation and site development with a sense of placemaking.

The Centre was opened in 2004 and won an Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (Tasmania) Project Award for Design in Landscape Architecture.
