The project was about creating an inspiring landscape to complement a six-star luxury resort in an environmentally sensitive location. The chosen site was an abandoned campground that had been seriously degraded and partially cleared, but was set in native dry eucalypt forest, and located in a broader national park landscape setting.

The design required a deep appreciation of the ‘nature’ of the pre-disturbance landscape, a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation as part of an over-arching sustainability agenda, an artful approach to site planning and landscape design, and detailed knowledge of ecological management to ensure the longevity of the installation.

The project was awarded the Tasmania Medal for Landscape Architecture in 2011 by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (Tasmania).
