Design Guidelines for
Nature-Based Tourism – Victoria
Inspiring Place’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that deeply personal connections with nature can be evoked through sensitive site selection, site planning, land management and design.
In this project, we applied that belief to the preparation of design guidelines to promote, guide and facilitate the development of high quality, sustainable nature-based tourism accommodation and facilities in Victoria. The guidelines provide developers and managers with comprehensive guidance on site planning, building design, infrastructure and on-going management for each of Victoria’s unique landscape settings.
In giving the project an Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (Tasmania) Award for Planning in 2011, the jury stated that the Guidelines were a ‘leading example’ that it hoped ‘will inspire other States to follow’.
