Wellington Park Landscape, Visual Character and Quality Assessment

The aim of the Study was to understand the landscape character, visual quality and scenic values of Wellington Park, and to document these for management purposes.

The Study used descriptive methods, GIS mapping of ‘seen views’ and other ‘viewshed’ analysis techniques to evaluate landscape character and sensitivity to change. The Study will aid planners in reviewing development proposals and their potential to impact on the experience of Wellington Park.

This, the first rigorous assessment of the Park’s visual character and aesthetic values, is an essential tool providing a basis for its managers and for municipal planners to consider decisions they make that will affect the visual values of the Park and its surrounds.
