Kakadu National Park Walking Strategy
As one of Australia’s iconic visitor destinations, Kakadu National Park requires a consistent, sustainable, and visitor-focused approach to walking opportunities.
The Strategy provides a sustainable approach to the planning, development, management and promotion of walking opportunities within the Park. It merges pragmatic on-ground management actions, with policy and strategic vision. The Strategy addresses both short and overnight walking opportunities, and incorporates a walking policy, a short-day walk inventory, including classification of tracks under the Australian Standards for Walking Tracks.
The extensive consultation process documented the views and ideas of traditional owners, Park staff, tourism industry representatives, and other stakeholders, to achieve an agreed framework and vision for walking in the Park.
