Cradle Valley Tourism Development Plan
The Plan established a vision for Cradle Valley as ‘a place with world class natural and cultural values where quality facilities and experiences are promoted, provided and managed in a sustainable manner’.
Strategies resolved key concerns about arrival, park transport, new buildings, facilities and infrastructure, interpretation, visitor experiences, environmental management and effective land use development across multiple
jurisdictions. A key recommendation was for the development of a new village including a new and expanded WHA visitor centre, visitor facilities and centralised vehicle parking, infrastructure and services.
The project received a Commendation for Rural and Regional Planning Achievement in the Planning Institute Australia (Tasmania) Awards in 2004.
